Modernity has drastically changed the rural lifestyle together with its authenticity, details and architecture whether in upper or lower Egypt. Egypt countryside is an essential component of our contemporary and historic lifestyle and represents the theme of most of the series. Hence, EMPC had to provide this area with a true-to–life rural atmosphere provided with the necessary production services.
It is divided into the following sub-areas:
It offers a real railroad station with different forms of old and modern train locomotives complete with signals and wooden platforms. It is geographically related to the typical village that includes the following :
Dove cots, the Mayor’s house, the village mosque, cattle barns, small shops, fields which are periodically cultivated according to the season crops, the clinic and a long water canal that surrounds the village. The design and the true-to-life details of the village allow both, interior and exterior shooting in this area.
It represents another example of the average village. It includes simple rural dwellings with their internal and external details, some shops overlooking the canal and the old railway station that is related to the nearby fields.
It is a replica of the mandara, the place where the villagers usually gather to celebrate their various social events. It is usually the house of one of the village rich inhabitants.
The rural area has its own charm. It is considered a place of attraction for many artists due to its vast area that permits addition, modifications and renovations.
This area represents the modern village. It may also represent the city attached to the old countryside as it is supposed to be its next social evolution.
Zefta includes some modern rural houses, a post office, some shops, a ginning mill and a coffee shop.
